Ernest Schmitmeyer
Ernest Schmitmeyer, 78, Saint Henry, Ohio, died Friday morning at Community Hospital, Coldwater, Ohio.
Born Aug. 4, 1929, in St. Sebastian, Ohio, he was the son of Bernard and Agatha (Albers) Schmitmeyer.
He was married on Jan. 6, 1951 to Alma Dirksen, who survives.
A retired farmer, he was a member of St. Francis Church and the Men's Holy Name Society of the church. He was also a member of the Knights of St. John, Maria Stein, Ohio, and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving in addition to his wife are five sons, John and Joe Schmitmeyer, Versailles, Ohio, Pat Schmitmeyer, Celina, and Bob and Steve Schmitmeyer, Maria Stein; five daughters, Mrs. Ron (Marilyn) Poppelman, Fort Loramie, Ohio, Mrs. Paul (Ann) Barhorst, Anna, Ohio, Mrs. Dave (Lois) Schwieterman, Celina, Mrs. John (Jean) Homan, New Bremen, Ohio, and Mrs. Kevin (Linda) Muhlenkamp, Bryant; two brothers, Luke Schmitmeyer, Coldwater, and Martin Schmitmeyer, Celina; five sisters, Mrs. Greg (Marian) Evers, Saint Henry, Sister Lucille Schmitmeyer, Tiffin, Ohio, Mrs. Willard (Eunice) Dahlinghaus, Minster, Ohio, Mrs. Ivo (Henrietta) Knapke, Versailles, and Mrs. Roger (Ella Mae) Watercutter, Fort Wayne; 57 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Church, with Father Tony Fortman officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Cranberry Prairie, Ohio.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.[[In-content Ad]]
