COUNTY ACCIDENT
Vehicles driven by rural Bryant residents collided at the intersection of Ind. 18 and 67 on Friday at 11 a.m.
Larry D. Ellenberger, 61, 7012 North U.S. 27, told Jay County police he was traveling west on Ind. 67 and stopped at the intersection of U.S. 27. He proceeded into the intersection and collided with a 1995 Ford Taurus driven by Dorothy A. Link, 86, 7878 East Ind. 67. Link told police she did not see Ellenberger’s 1982 Ford F-350 until the collision.
Damage to Ellenberger’s truck and Link’s car was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
LOT ACCIDENT
A parked car registered to a Portland couple was struck in the CVS Pharmacy parking lot on Friday at 12:28 p.m.
A 1993 Ford car, registered to Jason and Toshia Faller, 4714 North 250 West, Portland, was struck while parked in the parking lot of CVS, 802 N. Meridian St., Portland.
The second vehicle left the scene but a description of the vehicle and a license plate number was reported to city police.
A damage estimate was not included in a report by city police.
BIKE MISSING
A Portland man told Portland police on Friday that his son’s bicycle was stolen.
Chris Cook, 110 W. Arch St., told police that his son’s Mongoose bicycle was stolen from a storage area behind their home.
MAILBOX DAMAGED
A rural Pennville woman reported damage to her mailbox to Jay County police on Thursday.
Bessie Jackson, 4151 North 750 West, told police that her mailbox was struck sometime Wednesday night or Thursday morning.
CRIMESTOPPERS
Jay County CrimeStoppers is looking for information on thefts from seven vehicles in Salamonia that were reported on Wednesday to Jay County police.
Caroll Manor, 5649 E. North St., told police on Wednesday that the front passenger window was damaged to gain entry into her Buick car. A purse was stolen, but a wallet containing money and credit cards was left behind. The vehicle was parked behind Manor’s home when the theft occurred.
Also Wednesday, Erin Toland, 5810 East 400 South, told police that 22 CDs and a leather satchel containing papers was stolen from her Chevrolet Cavalier. Her car was parked in front of her home at the time of the theft.
Melisa Hibbard, 5858 East 400 South, reported Wednesday that a 10-inch portable television and a cell phone were stolen from her Dodge van.
Emily Daugherty, 3982 S. West St., told police Wednesday that an undetermined amount of change was stolen out of her three vehicles and a CD player was stolen from a fourth vehicle parked in her driveway.
She said that the thefts occurred sometime between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday. The CD player was valued at $50.
