GUN THEFT
A Portland resident reported a gun stolen out of his vehicle on Friday sometime between 2 a.m. and 3 p.m. The theft may have occurred in either Muncie or Portland.
Gregory W. Gierhart, 816 E. Race St., told Portland police his gun had been stolen from his locked vehicle sometime between 2 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday. The gun was under the front seat of the vehicle on the drivers’ side.
He locked the doors while he stopped at Bio Lite, Wal-Mart and McDonalds while in Muncie.
Gierhart also said it appeared that there had been no forced entry into the vehicle.

Jay County CrimeStoppers is looking for information on several thefts from vehicles parked at rural Portland homes.
Angie Fouch, 564 East 650 South, Portland, told Jay County police that 30 CDs valued at $20 each were stolen from one of her vehicles. Nothing was stolen from her second vehicle.
William Bland, 397 East 450 South, Portland, told Jay County police on Nov. 2 that a stopwatch, valued at $50, a bottle containing medicine, $30 in change, and an aspirin bottle were stolen from his Ford truck.
The theft occurred sometime between 6 p.m. Nov. 1 and 6 a.m. Nov. 2.
Eugene Miller, 5710 East 900 South, told Jay County police Nov. 2 that sometime Nov. 1 or early Nov. 2 someone entered the vehicles parked in front of his home. Noting was reported stolen from the vehicles.
Jeff Shawver, 6679 South 100 East, told Jay County police that the stereo/CD player was stolen out of his 1992 GMC truck sometime Saturday or Sunday.
Shawver’s truck was damaged where the stereo was removed.
Robert Lanning, 572 East 450 South, told police that Sherri Lanning’s purse, containing about $15, her checkbook and driver’s license, was stolen from her 1999 Dodge truck. The theft occurred sometime on the night of Nov. 1 or on the morning of Nov. 2.
The truck was parked in front of their home when the theft occurred.
