Looking for information

Jay County CrimeStoppers is looking for information on a man who committed an armed robbery at a Portland business on Oct. 1.

An unidentified white man entered Circle K, 729 S. Meridian St., at 9:43 p.m., armed with a steak knife.

He demanded the female employee who was working alone at the time to give him money. The woman handed the man an unknown amount of $20, $10 and $5 bills, police said.

The unidentified man then fled the convenience store on foot and headed east on Seventh Street, discarding clothing and the knife along the way.

Police believe the man is about 50 years old, is 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall, and weighs between 175 and 200 pounds. He has short, graying hair, a mustache and is unshaven. At the time of the robbery, the suspect was wearing a black baseball cap, a blue long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.

He also was wearing a blue bandanna, which he pulled up over his face at some point during the robbery.

Anyone with information about this or any other crime should call Jay County CrimeStoppers at (800) 797-8189.
