Edna Smith
Edna Roberta Smith, 83, Union City, a native of Jay County, died Friday at Randolph Nursing Home, Winchester.
Born to William and Edith (Darst) Sorbary on Jan. 19, 1920 in Jay County, she was married to Russell Smith, who died in 1984.
She worked for 11 years in the Mississinewa Valley Cafeteria and was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church and the Union City Body Company Retirees.
She was also a den mother for Boy Scout Troop No. 4, an advisor for 4-H, and was involved in the women’s circle at her church.
Surviving are one son, Max R. Smith, Indianapolis; two daughters, Mrs. Neil (Peggy) Nichol, Tuscon, Ariz., and Mrs. James (Cheryl) Leugers, Greenville, Ohio; a sister, Betty Smith, Union City; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services are Monday at 2 p.m. in Reichard Funeral Home, Ind. 28, Union City, with the Rev. Dee King presiding. Burial will take place in Union City Cemetery, Union City.
Visitation is Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Darke, Mercer and Randolph County Hospice.
Florence Flory
Florence L. (Frazier) Flory, 74, Winchester, mother of area residents, died Thursday evening at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie.
A native of Putnam, she was formerly employed at Westinghouse in Union City and later worked as a waitress at Reeves Cafe in Winchester.
She was married to Del Flory, who survives.
Surviving besides her husband are three daughters, including Mrs. Steve (Catherine) Fields, Dunkirk; one son, Michael Frazier, Ridgeville; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are set for 1 p.m. Monday in the Walker Funeral Home, Winchester.
Burial will be in Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester.
