Intersection collision

Vehicles driven by a rural Portland man and a Portland man collided at the intersection of Meridian and Walnut streets in Portland Friday.

A 1998 Isuzu Amigo driven by Robert A. Clamme, 60, 1423 East Ind. 26, and a 1994 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Gerald E. Cooper, 50, 17 Sesame St., collided at 1:53 p.m.

Portland police said Clamme was driving west on Walnut Street and failed to see the stop light at the intersection with Meridian Street turn red. His vehicle and the Chevrolet collided. Cooper was driving north on Meridian Street when the accident occurred.

Combined damage to Clamme’s Isuzu and Cooper’s Chevrolet was estimated at $1,000 to $2,500.

Museum open

The Museum of the Soldier, 510 E. Arch St., Portland, will be open today and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for students and senior citizens. Museum members and children age 10 and younger will be admitted free.

The museum also is open by appointment by calling (260) 726-2967.

Recycling trailer sites

The Jay County Solid Waste District will have three recycling trailers out today.

The trailers will be located:

•At Bloomfield Elementary School from 8 to 11 a.m., staffed by PTO members.

•In the LoBill Foods parking lot in Portland from 9 a.m. to noon. This trailer is staffed by the Madison Go-Getters 4-H Club.

•In the Will’s Market parking lot in Redkey from 8 a.m. to noon. This trailer is staffed by Delta Theta Tau Sorority.

Looking for information

Jay County CrimeStoppers is looking for information on a burglary at a Portland woman’s residence.

Susan Barker, 997 Boundary Pike, contacted Portland police Monday at 11:07 a.m. She said $41 in cash belonging to a Jay County church was stolen from her son’s room. The theft occurred between sometime on Sept. 4 and sometime Thursday.
