COLDWATER, Ohio and BERNE — The volleyball seasons came to an end Saturday for the Indians and the Starfires.
Fort Recovery High School’s volleyball team fell 25-14, 25-12, 25-14 to the top-ranked St. Henry Redskins in the Division IV sectional championship match at Coldwater. South Adams suffered a 25-9, 25-13, 25-12 loss at home to the Adams Central Flying Jets in the Class 2A sectional semifinal round.
The Indians, who defeated Spencerville in Wednesday’s semifinal round, finished the season at 7-17. The Starfires, who opened tournament play Thursday with a win over Churubusco, completed their season at 10-20.
St. Henry advances to play Ottoville in the district semifinal round on Tuesday at Van Wert. Adams Central went on to fall to Bishop Luers in four games in the sectional championship.

FR football falls
ST. HENRY, Ohio — The Fort Recovery junior varsity football team suffered a 20-8 loss Saturday to the St. Henry Redskins.
Evan Schoen scored the only touchdown for the Indians on a 45-yard pass from Wyatt Blockberger. The pair also connected for the two-point conversion.

Keen leads Jay
James Keen swept his division to lead the Jay County Winter Swim team Saturday as it hosted its season-opening Jay Fall Invitational.
Keen finished first in all five of the 13-14-year-old boys events as Jay County won more than a third of the individual events as well as 11-of-16 relays. Alex Bader added four victories in the 11-12-year-old girls divisions.
Anne Vormohr (three wins) and Sophie Bader combined to sweep the 13-14-year-old girls division. Other individual victories for Jay County came from Eliza Bader, Ethan Key, Caitlin Mark and Katy Smeltzer.

Nichols leads locals
MONTPELIER — Travis Nichols was the top area driver in competition Saturday at the Monster Mash Fall Tune-Up at Montpelier Motor Speedway.
Nichols, of Portland, turned in a sixth-place finish in the Thunder Cars A Main race. Jeff Baldauf, also of Portland, was seventh in the Super Streets A Main race.
Portland residents Mason Stewart and Sean Torre followed Nichols in 11th and 13th respectively. Jamie Heiser of Fort Recovery was 11th behind Baldauf with Jeremy Stocker, Portland, in 13th and Perry Jones, Salamonia, in 17th.[[In-content Ad]]
