Selvey named OAC Coach of the Year (06/14/07)

The Jay County High School baseball team picked up eight Olympic Athletic Conference honors as it held its awards ceremony Wednesday night.
The Patriots' Lea Selvey was voted OAC Coach of the Year, and his conference championship team earned four all-conference awards and added three honorable mentions.
Leading the list of All-OAC honorees was junior Josh Ludy, who set single-season team records for home runs (12), runs (44) and on-base percentage (.681) this year.
He was joined by Michael Jobe, who tied a 32-year-old team record with 12 wins, Thomas McCowan, who hit a record 20 doubles, and Andy Hughes.
Earning honorable mention were Josh Selvey (13 career sacrifices), Tony McCowan and Casey Waters.
Four-year letters went to Hughes, Selvey, Waters and Rhett Retter, and three-year awards were given to Jobe, Ludy, Luke Goetz, Aaron Bogenschutz and manager Brion Kahn.
Nichols wins 800
FORT WAYNE - Tevin Nichols picked up the only win for the Patriot Track Club as it competed in the Fort Wayne Express Summer Series recently.
Nichols won the 15-16-year-old 800-meter run with a time of 2-minutes, 21 seconds. He was also third in the 400 dash with a time of 57 seconds.
Tedric Nichols was the runner-up in the 13-14-year-old 200 dash at 27.4, and Austin Bentz took third in the 13-14-year-old 800 run in 2:44.[[In-content Ad]]
