Seminar to be held at hospital

A Diabetes Awareness seminar will be held Tuesday, April 23, in Jay County Hospital Conference Rooms A & B. Anyone interested in learning how to decrease the risk of developing diabetes or may be pre-diabetic or borderline diabetic, is welcome to attend.
An optional walk on the hospital track will begin at 4:30 p.m. The meal and program will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Kurt Alexander, MD, who specializes in the care of patients with diabetes, will be the featured speaker.

Art exhibit
The Regional Student Art Exhibit “Ride the Color Wheel” continues in the Hugh N. Ronald Gallery at Arts Place in Portland through May 11.
Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Writing contest
The National League of American Pen Women Muncie Branch is sponsoring a Fun of Writing Contest for seniors 55 and older.
Entries can be poetry, fiction or nonfiction and will be accepted through May 10.
To enter the contest, email [email protected]. Submissions must be in a Microsoft Word document and include a cover page with the author’s name, address, phone number, email address and category of submission. All other pages should include only the page number and title of the work. There is a $5 submission fee that must be sent by check or money order made out to  NLAPW Muncie Branch and mailed to Phronia Clayton, 11111 U.S. Highway 35-S, Muncie, IN 47304.

Library week
National Library Week continues at Jay County Public Library.
Stop by the library at 315 N. Ship St. in Portland and vote in the photography contest and enter daily raffles. Raffle winners will win gift cards to area businesses and restaurants.
