Treats for scholarships
Burger King restaurants operated by Quality Dining, Inc., Fort Wayne, are conducting the annual Halloween "Treat Sheet Fundraiser" now through Oct. 31.
This fundraiser assists Quality Dining, Inc. in awarding $1,000 continuing education scholarships to local high school seniors.
Quality Dining plans to award one scholarship to a senior who attends a high school near each of their 122 Burger King restaurants, including Portland, Decatur, Winchester and Bluffton.
Customers will be offered the opportunity to purchase a "Treat Sheet" for only $1. Each sheet features eight coupons good for a free small order of fries, free small hash browns, free small soft drink, or a free small ICEE drink.
Students with a 2.5 GPA or higher, who work part-time out of financial need, find time to participate in extracurricular activities, and can acquire a recommendation from their school and their employer, are eligible for the scholarship.
Luncheon set
The Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a networking luncheon Tuesday at noon.
The event will be held in the Geneva Town Hall community room, 411 E. Line St., Geneva. Ron Laux of Jay County REMC will be the guest speaker, discussing the Premier Ethanol LLC plant coming to Portland, and homegrown electricity.

A Portland woman recently began selling products for a home decor company
Tonya Myers now sells for AtHome America, and will serve as a HomeStyle Specialist.
"(Myers) will be an important contributor to the AtHome America family and our customers in the Portland area," Lisa Brandau, company co-founder and president, said in a press release. "AtHome America is about family, faith and products that represent these qualities. (Myers) is a wonderful representative for our company."
For more than 20 years, At Home America has been decorating homes through HomeShows with their extensive collection of home-decorating accessories, designed with family in mind.
