The Jay County Public Library is offering several programs in June. Stop by the library at 315 N. Ship St. in Portland or call (260) 726-7890 for more information.
Book reading group
The June selection for the Book Reading Group at Jay County Public Library is Gilead by Marilynne Robinson. Anyone wishing to join the group may register at the library or by calling (260) 726-7890. A discussion of the book will be Monday, June 19, at 7 p.m.
Internet classes
Internet for Beginners classes for adults will be held Thursday, June 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, June 3, from 9 to 11 a.m. To register, call the library at (260) 726-7890.
Local author
Roger Domingo, a local pastor and author of Eye Openers and Show Stoppers in the Bible will sign copies of his book on Tuesday, June 6, at 6:30 p.m. at J.C.P.L. Refreshments will be served and books will be available for $10.
Summer reading
Summer reading programs will begin at Jay County Public Library beginning Monday, June 5. Dragons, Dreams and Daring Deeds will be for infants through 5th grade; Joust Read is for teens in grades six through 12 and Goodies for Grown Ups will be for those 18 and older.
Registration is June 5 to June 17 and the programs run through July 15.
More fun
Free programs will be held on Monday, June 12, 19 and 26 and July 10 at 11 a.m. in the Library’s Community Room.
Toddler activity times will be Thursday, June 15 and 29 and July 13 at 9:30 a.m.
Medieval craft specials will be Saturday, June 10 and 24 and children may drop in anytime between noon and 4 p.m.
Build a castle
There will be a castle contest to enter. Castles may be made of any type of material and need to be brought to the library by Saturday, June 24. The castles will be voted on by library visitors and will be displayed through July 15.
Food classes
Bon Appetit, a series of food related programs for adults, will be held each Monday in June at 6:30 p.m. Candy making will be June 5; Cool no-bake desserts will be June 12; Cooking with the Jay County Extension Homemakers will be June 19; Summer recipes with Linda Frantz will be June 26; and Iced tea party will be Tuesday, July 18.
Registration is required for these classes. Call the library at (260) 726-7890 or stop by to register. There is a $3.00 fee for each class.
