She is in need of a change of scenery
As I See It
By Diana Dolecki-
I need a vacation. In fact, I think the whole world needs a vacation.
For one week we all need to stop. Just stop. No work, no television, no computers, no nothing. And absolutely no whining! No complaining either. No badmouthing. No negativity. No bad news. No responsibilities.
No earthquakes, no erupting volcanoes. No natural or man-made disasters of any kind. No violence. Nobody committing senseless crimes. Just nothingness, sunshine and life-giving rain.
Of course, that is impossible. Sick people need to be cared for. People need to work so that they can afford to eat and keep a roof over their heads. And heaven forbid if we turn all the children loose and let them take care of themselves for a week. Can you imagine the chaos?
I suppose I will have to settle for making a trip to my mother's house to celebrate my little brother's birthday. I sure do miss the days when I could buy him a toy truck and he was happy. Shopping for him is a lot more difficult now that he is all grown up with a wife and a teenage son.
I miss the farm where I grew up. It used to be when I went home for a weekend I could wander down to the creek and restore my soul. It just isn't the same feeling visiting a subdivision and taking Mom to Wal-Mart.
I need a vacation. It has been a long time since I have varied my routine. It seems like forever since I have lost myself in a wooded area and wondered if I was still at the top of the food chain.
A formal vacation is out of the question for today. Instead I will grill my birthday brother for new stories. He always makes me laugh.
I will tell him about my grandson sitting on the floor while my daughter made Texas caviar. I don't know exactly what this is but baby Jacob would spin around on his bottom, then open his mouth like a little bird. His mommy would pop in a bit of avocado or a black eyed pea. He would accept the treat then spin around again to get another piece of food. We don't have eating problems with that child.
I will take my brother and Mom shopping for his present wherever he wants to go. Plus granddaughter Emma needs more necklaces. She has taken to wearing her entire collection of jewelry at once. I might be able to convince my brother to buy her some more baubles to wear.
I need a vacation.
I am in need of new scenery, new people to talk to, new things to see and do. But for now a vacation is not on the schedule. I will visit my family and take care of my responsibilities and do my best not to run away from home in the process.[[In-content Ad]]
