MUNCIE - Dexter Shreve and Brandon Reynard each came home with victories Saturday as they led the Jay County High School boys track team to a fourth-place finish in Class A at the Muncie Relays.
The Patriots scored 633 points, finishing behind Anderson Highland (109), Huntington North (87) and Muncie Southside (78) at the eight-team meet hosted by Muncie Central.
Tipton edged Yorktown 98-95 in Class B.
Shreve was the lone Patriot to place in multiple events as he finished first in the long jump at 20 feet, 5 inches. He was the high jump runner-up at 5-feet, 10 inches.
Reynard was dominating in his victory, clobbering the field in the 300-meter hurdles. The defending sectional champion won by nearly three seconds in 39.61. No other runner broke the 42-second mark.
The juniors also led Jay County to a relay win, teaming with Sean Hatzell and Patrick Williams for the top spot in the 800 sprint medley by more than two seconds in 1-minute, 36.36 seconds. Shreve, Reynard, Hatzell and Patrick Johnson were the runners-up in the 4x400 relay in 3:35.7.
Hatzell also turned in the fourth-place effort in the 100 dash with a time of 11.75. Lance Franklin tossed the shot put a season-best 44 feet, also placing fourth.
Reynard, Hatzell, Franklin and Garrett Krieg were second in the 4x100 relay at 46.51.[[In-content Ad]]
