Snakes to be featured at program

A Snake-apalooza program will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Limberlost State Historic Site in Geneva.
Curt Burnette, Limberlost naturalist, will teach the program and have live snakes.

Carnival
Jay County Girl Scouts will host a Spring Carnival Open House on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Jay County Scouting Facility, 4681 W. 450 South, Portland.
There will be a bounce house, cakewalk, ring toss, duck pond, bingo, golfing, bowling and a basketball shoot. Tickets are 25 cents each.

Arts Place in Portland is accepting applications for summer MusicWorks instruction through June 5.
Lessons will begin June 10 and continue through July 19. Scholarships are available based on financial need.

The Cookbook Club will meet Monday, May 13, at 6:15 p.m. at Jay County Public Library. The theme is “Potluck” and participants should bring a dish they take to pitch-in dinners or try a new recipe.
The Book Discussion Group will meet Monday, May 20, at 7 p.m. to discuss the book “The Road” by Cormac McCarthy.
