Society seeks song lyrics (5/13/03)

The Meeting Room — which also serves as the Sports Room — at the Jay County Historical Museum is in need of help with its furnishing.
In the Sports Room now are pictures of each high school that was in Jay County. The words of each school’s fight songs and a picture or drawing of each school’s are needed to complete the exhibit.
The words to We’re Loyal to You Portland High and a drawing of the Purple Panther have already been obtained. Anyone who has the words and pictures of mascots for Bryant, Madison, Poling, Redkey, Gray, Dunkirk and Pennville are asked for copies to display.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
A new assistant director has been named to the Hospice of Darke/Mercer Counties.
Patti Eyink, a Coldwater, Ohio, resident, was recently appointed to the position after having served as the regional coordinator for the hospice program’s offices in Portland.
She is a registered nurse with a background in home health care and hospice. She previously worked at Wayne Hospital.

Listed below are several Jay County residents who graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion an April 26.
Michael Allen Hosier, 203 Oak St., Portland, associate’s degree in business; Sheila Renae Denney, 1126 S. Como Road, Portland, bachelor’s degree in social studies; Melissa Dawn Spade, 324 W. Jay St., Dunkirk, bachelor’s degree in nursing; Kimbra Marie Thomas, 2991 Southtown Place, Portland, bachelor’s degree in management; and Thomas B. Borders, 1557 North 500 East, Portland, bachelor’s degree in management.
Also graduating recently was Mindy Clark, daughter of Russell and Kathy Clark, Portland, and the granddaughter of John and Marceil Alig and Robert and Mary Ann Clark, all of Portland, from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business at IUPUI.
She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business management and is employed with Tom Wood Incorporated as a finance manager.
IDENTITY THEFT
A program on Identity Theft will be given on Thursday, May 15, at the Jay County Public Library, at 7 p.m. in cooperation with the Jay County Purdue Cooperative Extension.
Rush County Consumer and Family Science educator Cathy Burkett will explain how to protect your privacy and minimize the chance of identity theft.
Reservations need to be made by Tuesday, May 13. Call (260) 726-4707 to make them.
CONCERT
The U.S. Navy’s rock band, Horizon, will perform tonight at Emen’s Auditorium, on the Ball State University campus at 7:30 p.m.
The group was formed in 1985 and has opened for Smashbox and Styx, and will open for Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper, Tim McGraw and Kelly Clarkson this year. Horizon covers music from classic rock, Motown, country, funk, jazz and top 40 hits.
The concert is free and open to the public and will last approximately one hour. For more information, call the box office at, (765) 285-1539.
DANCE
The Crown City Squares will host a dance Saturday, May 17, from 8-10:30 p.m. at the West Jay Community Center, 125 N. Hoover, Dunkirk.

ALZHEIMER’S PROGRAM
An educational program entitled Alzheimer’s Disease: What You Need to Know will be held Thursday, May 22, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.at the Marion Public Library, 600 S. Washington St., Marion.
The free program is for families dealing with Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
