Songs and sweets set Monday
Taking Note
The Stateline Singers will perform on Monday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. in Goodrich Hall at Arts Place, Inc., 131 E. Walnut St., Portland.
Songs & Sweets: A Madrigal Dessert Feast will be performed by students in grades four through nine who are under the instruction of Glen Priest and Linda Rodden.
The Stateline Singers program is a part of MusicWorks and emphasizes sight singing, part-singing, and music theory. Students rehearse weekly throughout the year.
CONFERENCE
Lauren Budde, Portland, recently attended a leadership conference at Ball State University, Muncie. Fall Into Leadership was the theme of the conference.
Budde is a junior at Jay County High School and is the daughter of Jeff and Alice Budde.
PRINCESS CONTEST
The 500 Festival Princess Program application deadline for the 500 Festival and Indianapolis 500 is Wednesday, Dec. 31.
The Festival committee will select 33 young women in January 2004 to represent their college or university and their Indiana hometown at the 500 Festival events and statewide outreach programs. One of the princesses will be crowned queen on May 22, 2004, and will receive a $2,500 scholarship.
Applicants must be between the ages of 19 and 23, single and legal residents of Indiana; full-time students in a fully-accredited Indiana college or university; and maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
Each princess will receive business, active and formal wear for various appearances and a tiara and custom-made jewelry.
