South Adams roundup

BERNE — South Adams looked good in its warm-up for Thursday’s East Central Indiana Classic, clobbering the Woodlan Warriors 54-15 Tuesday.

The Starfires won 10 of the 13 contested matches, with six of those victories coming on pins. They improved to 18-2 overall and 4-2 in the Allen County Athletic Conference.

Adam Hirschy scored the quickest pin of the night, winning the 160-pound match in 1:23. South Adams had two other first-round pins with Christian Baer (135) finishing his match in 1:24 and Spencer Haworth (125) winning in 1:53. Also earning pins were Josh Mann (112) in 3:33, Colt Gentis (119) in 3:53 and Kyle Pennington (145) in 4:33.

Dustin Ehr (152), Stephen Hirschy (171), Josh Kimberlin (189) and Caleb Moore (215) each won their matches by decision.

Knights top tankers

BERNE — Haleigh Lehman and Justin Klopp each had big nights, but the duo could not overcome the Norwell Knights. The South Adams swim teams each fell to Norwell Tuesday, the girls by a 90-80 count and the boys 97-73.

Lehman earned two of the third victories for the girls team, with freshman Jessica Sharp taking the third. The junior was first in the 50-yard freestyle in 27.61 seconds and the 100 butterfly with a time of 1-minute, 8.24 seconds.

Sharp led a sweep of the 500 freestyle in front of Shannon Muselman and Bethany Maven in 5:59.14.

Klopp scored the lone wins for the Starfire boys, taking both sprints. He edged Alex Troxell by 12 hundredths in the 50 freestyle in 24.18, and finished first in the 100 freestyle in 54.24.[[In-content Ad]]
