South Adams boys drop finale

BERNE — Ronny Morrell torched the South Adams High Schools boys basketball team Friday, scoring 28 points to lead his Eastbrook Panthers to a 72-57 victory over the host Starfires.
Morrell shot 10-of-15 from the field and also grabbed 12 rebounds for Eastbrook (8-12), which pushed its lead to as many as 20 in the fourth quarter. Josh Turnock also had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Panthers, and Blake McQueen added 11 points and four assists.
Dustin Wanner scored 20 points to lead three players in double figures for SAHS (5-14), which shot just 2-of-14 (14 percent) from 3-point range. Taylor LeFever had 10 points and eight rebounds, and Trevor White also scored 10 points.
In junior varsity action, Matt Alig scored eight points for the Starfires in a 33-31 defeat.

Four win for Chiefs
Four members of the East Jay Middle School wrestling team won titles Saturday at the Southmont Super 13 Invitational.
Alex Abbott (95) and Levi Hummel (135) each went 4-0 to win their championships, and Hunter Gillette (155) and Logan Antrim (HWT) added 3-0 records en route to their titles. A.J. Bryant (90) went 2-1 to finish as the runner-up.
Also adding winning records for the Chiefs were Mitchell Bruggeman (85), Luke Rowles (115) and Michael Williamson (145), who each finished in third place.


Starfires go 1-4
The South Adams Junior High wrestling team finished 1-4 Saturday at the West Noble Tournament.
The only win for SAHS came against White Pigeon. The team fell to East Noble, Goshen, Northridge and New Haven.
Three Starfires — Chance Sprunger, Spencer Niece and Mason Morningstar — finished 5-0 on the day.

Chiefs finish unbeaten
East Jay Middle School’s sixth grade girls basketball team finished off its perfect season Thursday with a 21-7 victory over R.J. Baskett.
Taylor Homan scored six points to lead the Chiefs (11-0). Emily Muhlenkamp had five points, and Deanna Chenoweth added four.
In the B team game, Britlyn Dues scored seven points to lead EJMS to a 13-6 win.[[In-content Ad]]
