South Adams closes with win (02/13/2009)

BERNE - Justin Klopp and Caleb Wurster led the South Adams High School swim team to victory in its final meet of the regular season, 99-81 over the visiting Marion Giants.

Klopp led an SAHS sweep of the 100-yard butterfly, finishing nearly 16 seconds ahead of the field in 56.87 seconds ahead of Jacob Werst and Johnny Everidge. The senior also won the 50 freestyle in 22.93.

Wurster scored solid wins in both the 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle in times of 2-minutes, 21.11 seconds and 5:26.19 respectively.

Klopp, Wurster, Alex Habegger and Cole Farlow teamed for first place in the 200 medley relay in 1:55.49, and Klopp, Wurster, Habegger and Eric Feeney won the 400 freestyle at 3:41.71.

Habegger added a victory in the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.24.

Indians end seasons

The Fort Recovery Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team closed its season Thursday with a 39-36 loss to Marion Local in the Midwest Athletic Conference tournament.

Wyatt Blockberger scored nine points as the Indians finished at 4-10. Chad Schroer and Connor Rammel added seven points.

Also Thursday, the FRMS seventh grade girls basketball team (2-11) lost its tournament opener 9-7 to Parkway.

AC defeats Eagles

DUNKIRK - West Jay Middle School's wrestling team suffered a 46-28 defeat Thursday to visiting Adams Central.

Justin Love (125) scored a pin in 18 seconds for the Eagles, who had four pins on the night. Lucas Wiemer (135), Dylan Harris (145) and Kris Clevenger (175) also had pins.

Chase Louck (115) won by an 11-3 major decision.

Junior varsity wins came from Jesse Finnerty, Dustin Tighe, Chase Louck, Carrolton Fischer, Love, Wiemer, Donnie Cosner and Mitch Bennett.[[In-content Ad]]
