South Adams falls to Bluffton

BLUFFTON — The Starfires were playing from behind all game, falling to Bluffton 57-40 Friday.
South Adams (0-5) fell behind by 10 after the first quarter, trailed by another five after two and were down 50-28 by the end of three.
The Starfires got good production out of sophomore Dzejna Ahmetovic, who dropped 21 points on 10-of-19 shooting. Allison Amstutz and Alaina Johnston both added eight and Lauren Smith chipped in three to round out the SAHS scoring.
The Stars also fell in the junior varsity game, 35-20. Mackenzie Jennings led with six points in the loss.
West Jay boys fall
UNION CITY — The West Jay Middle School seventh grade boys basketball team defeated Union City West Side 37-30 on Tuesday.
Dakota Grove finished with 11 points and four steals to lead the Eagles, who improved to 3-1. Justin Crouch, Andrew Trewyn and Bowen May each added six points.
Opening win
The South Adams boys varsity squad turned the ball over 20 times but managed to pull out a win over Union City 55-52 in its season opener Wednesday night.
The Stars trailed early but outscored Union City 11-2 in the third quarter to head into the final period down just 36-34. South Adams poured on 21 points to edge the Indians.
Scott Hoeppner led with 19 points including five three-balls, Blake Fox contributed 14, and Logan Steiner notched 10 points and five rebounds in the win.[[In-content Ad]]
