South Adams loses to Knights

OSSIAN - The South Adams High School volleyball team slipped to 0-2 Tuesday with a 25-19, 25-23, 25-15 loss to the host Norwell Knights.
Karen Bollenbacher led the Starfire offense with five kills in the defeat. She also had 14 digs.
Libero Kassy Potts notched 20 digs, and Kysha Cox had 10 digs.
South Adams also dropped the junior varsity match, 25-13, 25-8.
Patriot netters fall
MARION - The defending sectional champion Marion Giants handed the Jay County boys tennis team a 5-0 loss in its season-opener Monday.
Chance Fuller and Seth Ainsworth were the only Patriots to win more than a single game. They fell 6-1, 6-2 to Daniel Harrold and Adraith Frikarth at No. 1 doubles.
Tylor Smith was the only other JCHS player to pick up a game in a 6-0, 6-1 loss against Nick Fauser at No. 3 singles.
Jared Valentine (No. 1 singles), Brad Leuthold (No. 2 singles) and Austin Cowan and Jordan McBride (No. 2 doubles) all lost 6-0, 6-0.
MC blanks Jay soccer
MUNCIE - Jay County's boys soccer team suffered its first regular-season loss since 2007 Tuesday, dropping its first game of the 2009 season 4-0 to the Muncie Central Bearcats.
The Patriots, who were 14-0-1 last year, suffered their last defeat in a regular-season game on Sept. 27, 2007, by a 2-1 score to Liberty Christian.
Central rolled out to a 3-0 lead in the first half, scoring twice in the first 12 minutes of the game. Adams Daniels recorded eight saves for JCHS.
Brad Horn notched two shots on goal, and Patrick Johnson added one.[[In-content Ad]]
