South Adams spikers defeat Archers

BERNE — The South Adams High School volleyball team closed its regular season with a victory Monday, defeating the visiting Fort Wayne South Side Archers 26-24, 25-22, 15-25, 26-24.
Taylor Farlow had eight digs, six kills, four aces and a block for the Starfires, who are now 4-27. SAHS opens tournament play Saturday at 11 a.m. against Bishop Luers at Adams Central.
Alyssa Bluhm added 10 assists and five digs for South Adams, and Jennifer Miller had five aces and two digs. Chelsea Bollenbacher totaled four kills, two digs and a block.
The Starfires also won the junior varsity match 22-25, 25-5, 15-7 with 12 assists from Jody Potts and seven digs by Shelby Mellencamp. Hannah Mitchel added six digs and Hannah Taing had five kills.
Indian gridders win
ST. HENRY, Ohio — Fort Recovery High School’s junior varsity/freshman football team defeated the St. Henry Redskins 6-0 on Monday.
Kyle Timmerman scored the only touchdown of the game on a 6-yard run. Mitch Vagedes had a pair of interceptions, and David Trobridge had two sacks.
JC football wins
Zach Metcalf’s second touchdown tied the game and Alex Dunn booted the winning extra point with no time remaining to lift Jay County to a 25-24 C-team football victory over the visiting Greenville Green Wave.
Metcalf led the Patriots with his par of TDs, including a game-tying 6-yard run as time expired. Wes Hibbard scored on a 30-yard run, and tossed a 5-yard TD pass to Jason Houston.[[In-content Ad]]
