BERNE — The Patriots came into town on a winning streak, and the Starfires couldn’t stop it.
South Adams High School’s volleyball team lost 25-12, 25-22, 25-14 Thursday to the visiting Heritage Patriots.
Bluhm had seven digs, five kills and three blocks for the Starfires, who fell to 2-17. Cady Farlow had eight assists and six kills, and Lauren Smith added six digs.
Katie Saalfrank totaled 10 kills and two aces for Heritage, which has won four straight. Kendall Knapke had nine kills and three blocks, and Jessica Franke put up 15 assists.
South Adams lost the junior varsity match 24-25, 25-13, 15-9 and the freshman match 24-25, 25-6, 15-3.

Boys soccer falls
FORT WAYNE — South Adams fell behind by seven goals in the first half Thursday in a 9-1 loss to the host Bishop Luers Knights.
Seven different players scored goals for Bishop Luers (10-0-1), with Adam Perolio leading the way with two goals and two assists. Jacob Murphy added two goals, and Nick Strack totaled four assists.
John O’Donnell scored the only goal for the Starfires (2-7-1) on an assist from Collin Lahr in the second half.
Adding one goal and one assist apiece were Brady Bubb and Logan West.

Boys tennis blanked

BLUFFTON — The Starfires won just four games in singles action Thursday as they fell 5-0 to the Bluffton Tigers.
Dexter Miller and Jared Rife played the closest match of the evening for the Starfires in a 6-3, 6-3 loss to Jake Garrett and Jacob Antrim at No. 2 doubles. Dylan Pierce and Blake Baumer dropped the junior varsity match 6-0, 6-4 to Carson Addington and Stephen Vanderkolk.
Brayden Myers lost 6-0, 6-3 to Damon Kohlenbeck at No. 1 singles, and Cole Myers fell 6-1, 6-0 to Tyler Lambert at No. 3. Landon Lehman suffered a shutout defeat at No. 2 singles.
Brett Litwiller earned an 8-2 junior varsity win over Brian Dotterer at No. 2 singles.

Girls soccer loses
BERNE — South Adams gave up all of Thursday’s goals in the first half in a 7-0 loss to the visiting Fort Wayne South Side Archers.
The Starfires (3-8) took five shots on goal in the loss. Riley Liechty, Olivia Turner, Morgan Haines, Michaela Rupp and Sharon Balsiger each finished with one. Jordan Brown finished with eight saves.

MS spikers roll
MONROEVILLE — The South Adams Middle School volleyball teams cruised to a pair of victories Thursday with the eighth graders winning 25-19, 25-7 over the host Heritage Patriots and the seventh grade team posting a 25-14, 25-17 victory.
Kaitlin Augsburger racked up 10 aces to lead the SAMS eighth grade team. Morgan Alberson had four assists and three kills, and Abby Myers totaled three aces and two kills.
Jade Farlow finished with five aces and one kill for the seventh grade squad.[[In-content Ad]]
