South Adams tops railroaders (09/21/05)

BERNE — The Stars got back on track against the conference newcomer.

South Adams, which had dropped back-to-back conference matches after opening 2-0, knocked off the Garrett Railroaders Tuesday night 26-24, 28-26, 25-20. The victory lifted the Starfire volleyball team to 4-11 overall and 3-2 in the Allen County Athletic Conference.

Renee Neuenschwander racked up a trio of team highs. She finished with 21 digs, 15 kills and three aces.

Brooke Fox added 12 digs and nine kills, and Andrea Moser totaled eight kills and a pair of blocks. Amber Melick notched three aces, and Tamara Moser had two aces.

Alyssa Miller had 35 assists, and Maranda Potts finished with 13 digs.

South Adams dropped the junior varsity match 25-23, 25-16.

Tribe golfers fall

CELINA — Fort Recovery’s boys golf team took a couple of losses Monday, falling to St. Henry and New Bremen at Mercer County Elks Country Club.

The Indians scored a 209 while St. Henry won with a 171 and New Bremen scored a 180.

Aaron Kahlig posted the top score for the Indians with a 49 as he parred the second and third holes and finished his round with a birdie on No. 9. St. Henry’s Jay Woeste was the match medalist at 41.

Matt Brunswick had a pair of bogies for a 51. Kevin Schoenherr shot 54, and David Schmitt and Travis Hart each finished at 55.[[In-content Ad]]
