South Adams wins shootout (11/26/07)

BERNE - The South Adams High School boys basketball team treated its fans to a rollicking home opener, knocking off the Daleville Broncos 84-80 in the an overtime shootout.

Nick Teeter buried six 3-pointers - three each in the first and second quarters - and scored a team-high 29 points to lead the Starfires (2-0). Daniel Bollenbacher scored six of his 22 points in the extra session, and Will Rich added 14 points.

The game was tied at the half and South Adams took a three-point lead into the fourth quarter, and they gave up 26 points in the final eight minutes before earning the win in overtime.

Nathaniel Carroll and Chris Everling did most of the fourth-quarter damage, combining for 22 of the Broncos' points. Carroll shot 15-of-17 from the foul line for his game-high of 31, and Everling hit for all of his 21 points in the second half.

Cody Walters added 16 for Daleville (1-1).

South Adams won the junior varsity game 46-39, getting 13 points from Heath Moser and 12 apiece by Caleb Armenta and Ryan Moser.

Drumm wins at Highland

ANDERSON - Seth Drumm put together a perfect day as the Jay County junior varsity wrestling team competed in tournament action at Anderson Highland.

Drumm brought home the lone title for the Patriots, finishing with a 3-0 record at 130 pounds. Dylan Derrickson added a 3-1 record at 130 for fifth place, and Kyle Davidson was sixth at 135 pounds with a 2-2 mark.

Tribe freshmen fall

Fort Recovery's freshman boys basketball team gave up 32 second-half points Saturday in a 54-45 loss to the Delphos Jefferson Wildcats.

The Tribe had leads of three and four points and the end of the first and second quarters respectively, but were outscored 22-13 in the final period of the defeat.

Shane Brunswick led the Indians with 21 points and eight rebounds. Ryan Link added 10 points, and Ryan Schoen scored eight.[[In-content Ad]]
