South Adams falls to Blackhawk

BERNE — The South Adams High School volleyball team lost to the Blackhawk Christian Braves Monday, 25-13, 25-8, 26-24.
Alyssa Bluhm led the Starfires’ attack with eight kills and nine assists. Cady Farlow added four kills while Caralie Farlow added three.
Defensively for South Adams, Cady Farlow posted a team-high seven digs, while Lauren Smith and Morgan Alberson added six apiece.
Bluhm led the Starfires with three blocks.
The junior varsity squad also lost to the Braves, 25-22, 25-17. Breonna Lepley and Kylie Grabau led the Starfires with three kills apiece, and Chastity Guereca and Haley Archer each had five digs.
South Adams returns to the court at 6 p.m. today against Leo.

SA boys scoreless
MONROEVILLE — The South Adams boys soccer team dropped its third straight conference match and was held scoreless Monday, as they fell to the Heritage Patriots 2-0.

Heritage scored a goal in each half against the Starfires (2-5-1), who drop their second-straight road game after losing to Jay County 3-1 Saturday.
Dustin Dellinger led South Adams with three shots on goal, and goalkeeper Tyler Sprunger had three saves.
South Adams returns to the pitch at 5 p.m. Thursday against Fort Wayne Bishop Luers.

Starfire girls shut out
BERNE — The South Adams girls soccer team managed only two shots on net Monday, falling to the Heritage Patriots 2-0.
Riley Liechty and Michaela Rupp recorded the only two shots for the Starfires, who fell to 2-7 on the season.
South Adams goalkeeper Alaina Johnston made 18 saves.
The Starfires have six games remaining on the season and return to action at 5 p.m. Thursday at Fort Wayne South Side.[[In-content Ad]]
