Sports reading program scheduled (08/29/2008)
Taking Note
Jay County Public Library will begin a sports related reading program for children and teen-agers.
Registration for "Back to School; Back the Patriots!" will begin Sept. 2 and continue through Sept. 20. Participants must read six books or novels by Nov. 1. A ticket for a prize drawing will be received after the six books are read. Additional tickets will be given for each book read after the six and for participation in or attending sporting events.

Family Fun Times will be held Thursday, Sept. 4 and 18 at 9:30 a.m. at the library.
There will stories, toys and music shared by children and conversation shared by the adults.

An after school special will be Friday, Sept. 5, from 2:45 to 4 p.m. for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.
There will be a snack, a story and crafts. Registration is required by Sept. 4.

Story times, for infants and older, will be Monday, Sept. 8, 15 and 22 at 10 a.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 9, 16 and 23 at 1 p.m.
Four or five books will be read aloud, followed by a craft. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No registration is necessary.
