FORT WAYNE - South Adams High School's girls soccer team finished its regular season at 13-3 following a 5-1 victory Tuesday over the host Blackhawk Christian Braves.

Maddie Moore had a hat trick to lead the Starfires, scoring her first goal on a penalty kick with just 15 seconds to play in the opening half. She added scores on assists from Kinsey Lengerich and Mackenzie Moser in the second half.

Lengerich broke open a scoreless tie 32 minutes into the first half, scoring on a header off a pass from Ashton Morgan. Morgan also assisted on a goal by Lengerich in the second half.

South Adams will play the host Giants in the sectional tournament next week at Marion.

Stars knocked out

The South Adams High School volleyball team lost 25-16, 25-16 to Leo in the first round of the Allen County Athletic Conference tournament Tuesday.

The Starfires are now 2-21 on the season.

WJMS slams Bears

DUNKIRK - Lucas Wiemer led the West Jay Middle School eighth grade football team in its 54-0 slaughter Tuesday of the visiting Monroe Central Golden Bears.

Wiemer ran six times for 108 yards and two touchdowns while Tyler Back added 59 yards and two TDs and Blake Crouch had 46 yards and two TDs. Dakota Nicklay added a TDs on a run and a kickoff return, both of which went for 45 yards, and he also had seven tackles for the Eagles (5-1).

Eagle 7th wins

DUNKIRK - The West Jay Middle School seventh grade volleyball team fought off Hartford City Tuesday for a 25-21, 22-25, 15-14 victory.

The eighth graders lost, 25-17, 25-18.

Ashley Motter paced the Eagle seventh graders with 13 points. Chelsea Tighe and Tyra Westlake each added 12 points.

Shelby Shirk had six points for the eighth grade team. Shadle Hale chipped in two points.[[In-content Ad]]
