Starfire girls golf team wins

GENEVA — The South Adams High School girls golf team won its third straight match behind the play of Sydney Willis as the Starfires handily defeated the Bishop Luers Knights 186-227 at Golf Club of the Limberlost.
Willis fired a 38 to tie her season best, including a birdie on the 370-yard par-5 second hole. She also shot even on the par-4 first, fourth, sixth and seventh holes, and converted a par on the 85-yard, par-3 ninth.
Kelli Lehman shot a season-best 44, Alliegh Wingler posted a 48 and Jaci Gorrell had a 56 for the Starfires.
Brianna Burelison led the Knights with a 52.
The Starfires return to action at 4:30 p.m. today on the road against Fort Wayne North Side and Fort Wayne South Side.

Fort girls fall
CELINA, Ohio — The Fort Recovery girls golf team fell to St. Henry 208-270 Wednesday at the Mercer County Elks Country Club.
Trisha Thien led the Indians with a score of 59. Cori Stone (66), Emily Bruns (69) and Tori Vaughn (74) rounded out the Tribe’s top four scores.
Elli Keller and Vanessa Wendel also competed for the Indians, posting scores of 79 and 80 respectively.
The Indians return to the links at 5 p.m. Friday at Waynesfield-Goshen.

Starfires shut out
OSSIAN — The South Adams girls soccer team dropped its first match of the season Tuesday in a 1-0 shutout loss to the host Norwell Knights.
Alex Haddix scored the lone goal in the game during the first half.
Michaela Rupp fired the only three shots for the Starfires, and Alaina Johnston stopped 11 Norwell shots from seven different players.
The Starfires are on the road at 5 p.m. today at Blackhawk Christian.[[In-content Ad]]
