Starfires defeat Bluffton

The South Adams High School boys swim team improved to 6-2 Thursday with a 103-83 victory over the host Bluffton Tigers. The Starfires girls also win, 96-87.
Jacob Werst, Cole Farlow, Caleb Wurster and Joel Schmidt paced the SAHS boys, teaming to win a pair of relays. They were first in the 200-meter medley relay in 2 minutes, 12.41 seconds, and later took the top spot with a time of 1:55.66 in the 200 freestyle relay.
Wurster led a one-two Starfire effort in the 100 breaststroke, finishing first ahead of teammate Mitchel Kaverman in 1:18.64. Farlow took the 50 freestyle with a time of 27.63, Werst won the 100 butterfly in 1:10.02 and Schmidt finished first in the 100 backstroke in 1:15.16.

EJ girls top Delta
East Jay Middle School’s seventh grade girls basketball team rolled to a 35-7 victory Thursday over the visiting Delta Eagles. The eighth grade Chiefs won 22-17.
Cheyenne Loy scored eight points for the EJMS seventh graders (7-2), who were up 10-0 after the first quarter. Lyla Muhlenkamp and Gabby Hart each added six points.
Breanne McIntire powered the Chiefs’ eighth grade team (8-1) with 11 points. Malarie Houck scored seven points.

Fort seventh rolls
VERSAILLES, Ohio — The Fort Recovery seventh grade boys basketball team defeated the Versailles Tigers 41-27 Thursday. The eighth grade team lost 42-29.

Jackson Hobbs totaled 12 points for the Tribe seventh graders, who improved to 5-1. Darien Sheffer finished with five points.
Cole Hull scored nine points as the seventh grade Indians dropped to 1-5. Evan Schoen and Nathan Lochtefeld each had six points.

Eagles split with UC
West Jay’s sixth grade boys basketball team defeated Union City 38-25 Thursday. The girls team lost 20-18.
Bowen May scored 12 points for the WJMS boys (1-1), and Spencer Calvert added 10 points. Kyndal Miller powered the girls team with eight points.
In B team games, Miller scored six points to lead the girls to an 18-14 victory and five different players scored four points for the boys in a 24-14 win.

Meranda, Carvel lead
Daniel Meranda and Kyler Carvel led the West Jay seventh grade boys basketball team to its 33-22 victory Tuesday over East Jay.
Meranda racked up 12 points and seven rebounds, and Carvel also scored 12 points. The Eagles improved to 5-2 with the win.[[In-content Ad]]
