Starfires earn state ranking

Their perfect record with just two weeks remaining in the regular season was enough to earn the Starfires some state recognition.
The South Adams High School wrestling team climbed into the state rankings this week at No. 19.
SAHS is undefeated on the season at 21-0 with only three events left on its schedule. It has won championships at the East Central Indiana Classic, Spencer Haworth Invitational, New Castle Super Duals and Homestead Super Duals.
Senior Josh Ehr, who is ranked second in the state at 152 pounds, leads the team with a 25-0 record, and Todd Batt (125) is 24-1.

Jay places third
MONROE — The
Jay County High School wrestling team placed third Saturday at the eight-team Adams Central Super Duals.
The Patriots defeated Snider 56-18, Norwell 55-21 and Southwood 64-12, and suffered losses to champion Adams Central 45-32 and runner-up Bishop Dwenger 46-22.
Drake Meska, ranked seventh in the state at 140 pounds, and freshman Eric Hemmelgarn (215) each went 5-0, and Eric Beougher (171) added a 4-0 mark. Kyle Garringer (189) and Conner Ray (103) each went 4-1, and Kyle Davidson (135), Dustin Tighe (125), Dyllan Derrickson (145) and Nick Spahr (HWT) all added winning records.

High rollers win
HUNTINGTON — The Jay County High Rollers high school bowling team defeated Bluffton 18-2 Saturday in a Baker-format match.
Jay County won nine out of 10 games and posted a high score of 222.[[In-content Ad]]
