Starfires pick up 3rd win (10/15/2008)

UNION CITY - The gaps are getting smaller.

South Adams High School's volleyball team waited 13 matches before picking up its first win. It took the Starfires just four to get their second, and then Tuesday night they halted a short three-match losing streak to picked up their third 25-14, 25-20, 25-21 over the Union City Indians.

Jacie Yoder racked up 27 assists in the victory for South Adams (3-21). Sarah Richert led the defense with 14 digs, and Kyla Potts added 12.

Karen Bollenbacher finished with 13 kills.

The Starfires dropped the junior varsity match, 25-10, 25-22.

JC JV tops Tigers

BLUFFTON - A balanced effort all around led the Jay County High School junior varsity volleyball team to a 25-22, 25-21 victory Tuesday over the Bluffton Tigers.

Taylor Burris had six points and three kills, and Maria Murphy totaled six kills and two blocks. Five other Patriots had one kill apiece.

Becky Muhlenkamp scored seven points, Alyssa Rigby had seven digs and Tanner Martin put up six assists.[[In-content Ad]]
