Starfires pick up another victory
South Adams roundup
BERNE - In the last five days, the Starfires have doubled their win total.
The South Adams baseball team has had its struggles this year. However, it has found its stride recently as it won for the third straight game Wednesday 15-6 over the visiting Elmhurst Trojans.
The Starfires (6-18), who defeated Mississinewa 10-5 in the second half of a double-header Saturday and Northfield 10-6 Tuesday, put up two or more runs in the second through sixth innings.
After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first, SAHS pulled even in the bottom and then took the lead for good on Caleb Armenta's bases-loaded double in the second. Taylor LeFever and Dustin Wanner each had RBI singles as the Starfires scored three more runs in the third inning, and Daniel Dynes drove in two runs as part of a four-run fifth.
Kyle DeArmond benefited from the big offensive day as he earned the win, allowing six runs on seven hits and two walks in four innings. He struck out six batters.
