Stars earn first win (12/08/03)

It’s amazing what a little offense can do.
The South Adams girls basketball team finally put some points on the board and earned its first win of the year Saturday 55-48 over the Heritage Patriots. The Starfires had scored 39, 40, 41 and 41 points in their first four games this season.
Kindle Inniger led South Adams, which did an excellent job of getting to the foul line. She scored 19 points, including 7-of-8 from the free throw stripe.
The Starfires (1-4) were 24-for-31 on free throws while Heritage took just 10 foul shots in the contest.
Kelly Mertz hit six free throws on the way to a 15-point effort, and Brittany Moser was 6-of-7 from the line and scored 12 points. Moser and Julie Muhlenkamp were rabid rebounders, grabbing 12 and 11 respectively.
Muhlenkamp added three assists, Mertz had three steals and Inniger had four assists and three steals.
Emily Wagner paced Heritage with 14 points, and Melissa Wills had 13.
