Stars, Indians fall to Bellmont

BERNE — Neither the Indians nor the Starfires could keep up with Bellmont.
The host South Adams High School boys swim team finished second behind the Braves (134) with 113 points Tuesday as it hosted a three-team meet. Fort Recovery was third with 58.
In the girls competition, Bellmont won with 144 points ahead of the Starfires (117) and the Indians (57).
Cory Sank led the South Adams boys as he took the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes, 5.11 seconds, and the 500 freestyle in 5:34.96. Drew LeFever added a win with a time of 1:01.59 in the 100 butterfly.
Kara DeLong was first for the Starfire girls in the 100 butterfly in 1:04.43 and the 100 backstroke in 1:05. Cady Farlow added winning times of 56.17 in the 100 freestyle and 1:11.73 in the 100 breaststroke.
Cori Stone earned the only individual win for the Fort Recovery girls as she took the 200 freestyle in a school-record time of 2:09.22. Marshall Hull won the 100 backstroke for the boys team in 1:02.95.

SA boys fall to Parkway
ROCKFORD, Ohio — South Adams’ boys basketball team fell apart in the fourth quarter Tuesday as it lost 62-52 to the host Parkway Panthers.
The Starfires (2-5) jumped out to an 18-11 lead in the opening period. They were still up by three before being outscored 24-11 in the fourth quarter.
Chase Mosser shot 8-of-14 (57 percent) from the field as he scored 21 points to lead SAHS. But the rest of the squad hit for just 33 percent.

Blake Fox followed Mosser with 12 points and nine rebounds, and Derek Wanner had three assists.
Matt Heindel led Parkway to the comeback victory with 17 points. Tanner Bates added 12 points, and Brant Barna grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.
The South Adams junior varsity team lost 56-55. Chandler Ingle scored 19 points for the Starfires, and Marco Vasquez finished with 17.

Indians top NB
NEW BREMEN, Ohio — The Fort Recovery Middle School eighth grade girls basketball team picked up a 25-17 victory Tuesday over the New Bremen Cardinals. The seventh grade team stayed undefeated with a 27-24 win.
Jocie Kaiser scored 16 points to power the FRMS eighth graders (4-2), who led by just one at the half. Whitney Will added six points.
Carley Stone finished with 10 points as the Indian seventh grade squad improved to 6-0. Grace Thien scored eight points.
