BLUFFTON — The Starfires will carry a perfect record into the East Central Indiana Classic.
The Leo Lions gave the South Adams High School wrestling team a scare Thursday, but it still came through with a 34-33 victory. It also defeated Heritage 37-29 and the host Bluffton Tigers 75-3 in an Allen County Athletic Conference quadrangular meet.
Gabe Sprunger (145) was the only Starfire to earn three wins on the evening, picking up pins against Bluffton and Heritage and an 18-4 major decision versus Leo. Second-ranked Josh Ehr (160) added a pair of wins, pushing his season mark to 20-0.
L.J. Moser earned wins at 112 pounds against Heritage and 119 against Leo as he also went 2-0 for the Starfires, who are 21-0 heading into the 17-team ECIC tournament Thursday at Jay County.

FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery Middle School’s seventh grade boys basketball team dominated the first half Thursday in a 36-16 victory over St. Marys. The eighth grade squad won 33-19.
Kendra Siefring and Caitlyn Huelskamp each had seven points for the seventh graders (2-4), who led 22-7 at the half. Kirsten Jutte and Mikayla Post added six points apiece.
Tori Lennartz, Kara Jutte and Mikayla Grover each scored six points as the eighth grade Indians improved to 4-2. Rachel Pugh and Cassidy Rammel each scored four points.
Tribe tops Parkway
ROCKFORD, Ohio — The Fort Recovery eighth grade boys basketball team earned its first win 30-29 Thursday over the host Parkway Panthers. The seventh graders rolled to a 46-16 win.
Cole Wendel scored nine points to lead the Tribe eighth graders, who are now 1-2. Cole Hull added seven points.
Darien Sheffer racked up 16 points for the undefeated seventh grade squad (3-0). Chase Bruns chipped in eight points.[[In-content Ad]]
