Stars stop losing streak

Local roundup

UNION CITY — The Starfires had been missing some of their leaders. They had missed the feeling of winning as well.
They solved those problems Monday.
Seniors L.J. Moser and Cam Lengerich returned from injuries to help the South Adams High School boys soccer team snap a five-game losing streak with a 5-1 win over the Union City Indians.
Lengerich scored the only goal of the first half when he used a header to knock in a corner kick off the foot of Lathan Luginbill. Dustin Dellinger broke open the game with three second-half goals, and Luginbill also added a goal for the Starfires (3-10-1).
Moser finished with five saves as SAHS picked up its first win since beating Jay County 3-1 on Sept. 8.
The five goals were more than the Starfires had in their previous five games, which they lost by a combined score of 39-4.
