Story times scheduled
Taking Note
Story times at Jay County Public Library will be held each Monday and Tuesday at 11:15 a.m. in January and February.
Dates are Monday, Jan. 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31, Feb. 7, 14, 24 and 31 and Tuesday, Jan. 4, 11, 18 and 25, Feb. 1, 8, 15 and 22.
Story times will last a half-hour to 45 minutes and will include four or five books read aloud, followed by a craft.
Infants and older children are invited but must be accompanied by an adult.

An After School Special will be Friday, Jan. 7, and Friday, Feb. 4, from 2:45 to 4 p.m. for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Registration is required.

A Middle School Special will be Friday, Jan. 14, and Friday, Feb. 18, from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. for sixth through eighth grade students. Registration is required.

Mother and Goose and Me will be held each Friday in February at 9:30 a.m. for infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers.
There will be nursery rhymes, music, fun and learning.

Recycle
Jay County Public Library is recycling clear compact disc cases to use for music CDs. Cases may be dropped off at the circulation desk of the library at 315 N. Ship St. in Portland.
Reading programs
Reading Winterland, a reading program for adults 18 and older will be held from Jan. 10 through Feb. 5.
Carry Out A Good Book, a reading program will also be held for kids from Jan. 29 through Feb. 21 with sign-up beginning Jan. 17.
There will be pizza activities, pizza prizes, pizza tasting and pizza fun.

The book discussion group at Jay County Public Library is reading the book “The Day the World Came to Town: 9/11 in Gander, New Foundland” by Jim de Fede. The book will be discussed on Monday, Jan. 17, at 7 p.m.
“The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet” by Jamie Ford will be discussed on Feb. 21 at 7 p.m.
