Taking Note
Sean Adams has been selected for membership in The National Society of High School Scholars. The Society invites students who have superior academic achievement and are among the top scholars in the nation.
Membership is by invitation only and includes valuable benefits for members such as scholarships, networking, events and publications.
A student at Jay County High School, Sean is the son of Roy and Debbie Adams, Portland.
BASKET CLASS
The West Jay Community Center will offer a basket making class with local basket artist Connie Whetsel on Saturday, Sept. 18, at 9 a.m.
A step basket will be made and the cost of the class is $35. Bring a sack lunch and come and enjoy the fun of making your own basket.

QUILT SHOW
The Towne Squares Quilt Club, Inc. will have its 23rd Annual Quilt Show at the Darke County Fairground Youth Building, State Route 49 South in Greenville, Ohio.
The show will be held Friday, Oct. 8, from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 9, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 10, from noon to 4 p.m. Admission is $3.
Also on Saturday a fashion show will be held at 11 a.m. and a mini quilt auction will be at 2 p.m.
There will be door prizes, a country store, merchants mall, scissor sharpening, demonstrations, and a food court.
You may register a quilt or quilted item for the show on Thursday, Oct. 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Sixth Annual Bean Blossom Blues Fest will be held on Friday, Sept. 10, Saturday, Sept. 11, and Sunday, Sept. 12, at the Bill Monroe Music Park in Bean Blossom, five miles north of Nashville, Indiana, on Highway 135.
The gates will open at 9 a.m. each day.
Walter Trout, one of the greatest guitar players in the world, will be performing. The event will also feature America’s biggest harmonica contest.
