Students earn degrees

Two Jay County students received degrees from Wesleyan University in Marion during graduation ceremonies on Dec. 18.

Jennifer Marie Gettinger, Dunkirk, and Dale Ray Hidy, Pennville, both received a bachelor’s degree in management.

MINNETRISTA EVENTS

The Minnetrista Cultural Center in Muncie will host several events for children during the first two weeks of January.

“Families in a box” will be Tusday from 9 to 10 a.m. and again from 4 to 5 p.m. Children will make dioramas displaying their families.

The registration fee is $5 per child. Adults are welcome, but not required to attend.

“Recycled paper treasures” will be held Tuesday, Jan. 11 from 9 to 10 a.m. and again from 4 to 5 p.m. Participants will recycle used Christmas wrapping materials to make new treasures.

The registration fee is $5 per child, and children must be accompanied by an adult. The deadline to register is Tuesday.

“Canning basics - chili mix” will be held Wednesday, Jan. 12 form 3 to 5 p.m. Participants will learn to prepare dry chili ingredients for a ready-made mix.

The registration fee is $15, and the deadline to register is Wednesday.

“Building your own museum collection” will be held Wednesday, Jan. 12 from 4 to 5 p.m. and again Thursday, jan. 13 from 4 to 5 p.m. Participants will bring some of their own collectibles and make their own museum in which to display them.

The registration fee is $5 per child, and the deadline to register is Wednesday.

“Story time with dad,” a ready workshop for children ages 3 through 7, will be held Thursday, Jan. 13 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. All participants will get a book to take home.
