Summer reading to begin

Registration for the adult summer reading program ‘Groundbreaking Reads’ at Jay County Public Library will begin May 28 and continue through June 8. Participants will receive an instruction packet upon registering and reading will continue through July 20.
Registration forms for ‘Dig Into Reading’ program for children will begin June 3 and the program will continue through July 13.
‘Beneath the Surface’ reading program for teens in 6th through 12th grade will also be held this summer.

Hannah Hughes began her first term on the library’s board of trustees in January. She is accounting manager at Bollenbacher and Associates, LLC in Portland and a member of Portland Rotary Club, Jay Advisory group and the Indiana CPA Society.
Sculpture tour
The 2013 Decatur Sculpture Tour will held Friday, June 7, and Saturday, June 8 and will include 16 exhibits.
Sculptures will be placed from 8 to 9 a.m. on Friday and artists will be featured from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Riverside Center. Registration for The Old 27 Film Festival is at 2 p.m. and competition begins at 3 p.m.
Unveiling of the sculptures will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday on 2nd Street in downtown Decatur. Activities will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. A concert will be from 7 to 9 p.m. and the film festival will be at 9:30 p.m. at the Old 27 Ice Cream Shop.

Free movie
Ritz Theatre in Portland will play the free movie Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax on Wednesday, June 5, at 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Free concert
The 2013 free Summer Concert Series will begin Saturday, June 15, at 7 p.m. at Webster Depot Park in Dunkirk with the John Beatrice Band.[[In-content Ad]]
