EATON, Ohio — Fort Recovery High School’s girls cross country team placed fourth Saturday at the Eaton Invitational.
The Indians finished with 116 points to trail No. 8 Russia (56), Botkins (83) and Xenia Christian (111) in the field of 15 teams.
The Tribe boys scored 285 points for 11th out of 14 teams.
Elle Sutter was just three seconds away from a top-10 finish as she paced the FRHS girls in 11th place in 20 minutes, 45 seconds. Abby May was 19th in 21:33 followed by Jessica Vogel (26th – 21:53), Sam Tobe (28th – 21:54) and Nicole Heitkamp (33rd – 22:10).
Derek S. Sutter, a sophomore, took 25th place to lead the Indian boys in 18:07. Nathan Fullenkamp followed in 54th in 19:01 ahead of Joey Gonzalez (60th – 19:05), Mitchell Homan (83rd – 20:06) and Marshall Hull (92nd – 20:33).

CELINA, Ohio — The Indians struggled against a county rival Saturday, falling 25-13, 25-10, 25-10 to the Celina Bulldogs.
Fort Recovery got eight digs, five assists and four points from Emily Link as it dropped to 4-6. Kylie Kahlig added five blocks and two kills, and Abby Backs had 10 digs.
Ericka Lennartz recorded a team-high six kills, and Kayla Kahlig matched Link with five assists.

The Tribe rallied behind 10 digs and nine points from Heather Vaughn to win the junior varsity match 15-25, 25-21, 25-22 to improve to 5-2. Cassidy Rammel notched five kills and two blocks, and Hannah Kaup had 10 digs.

Gridders tie NB
FORT RECOVERY — Both teams missed on one of their two-point conversion tries Saturday, leaving the junior varsity football game between Fort Recovery and the New Bremen Cardinals in a tie at 22.
Wyatt Blockberger starred for the Indians (0-3-1), tossing TD passes of 55 yards to Evan Schoen and 35 yards to Dillon Whitacre. He scored on a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter, and had two-point conversion passes to Mitch Stammen and Whitacre.

FRMS runners 2nd
EATON, Ohio — The Fort Recovery Middle School girls cross country team turned in a runner-up finish Saturday, scoring 84 points to finish 20 behind champion Russia at the 10-team Eaton Invitational. The boys team was 12th out of 14 with 284 points.
Caitlyn Huelskamp and Angela Heitkamp recorded top-10 efforts for the FRMS girls, finishing fifth and seventh respectively in times of 13 minutes, 15 seconds and 13:24. Cori Stone was 20th in 14:29 followed by Grace Gehle (23rd – 14:35) and Chassity Hemmelgarn (41st – 15:16).
A.J. Jutte placed 29th with a time of 12:56 to lead the Tribe boys. Isaac Siegrist was 40th in 13:10 ahead of Mitch Kaiser (75th – 14:11), Nick Litmer (104th – 15:41) and Ty Francis (109th – 16:25).[[In-content Ad]]
