Swimmers chalk up win
Another meet, another win.
The Jay County Summer Swim Team now holds a 5-0 season record after a Tuesday night 773-296 win over visiting Union City.
Jay County won 15 of 18 relays and 49 of the 60 individual events.
Thirty-two different Jay swimmers won at least one individual event.
Anne Vormohr and Mara Bader were the triple-event winners of the meet. Vormohr won in the 15-over girls butterfly, backstroke, and IM. Bader won the 8-under girls long free, backstroke, and short free.
Vormohr’s time of 1:12.35 in the backstroke set a new pool record, erasing the 1:12.90 mark set by Abby Arnold in 2001.
Fourteen Jay County swimmers won two events.
Those included Sophie Saxman, 8-under girls butterfly and IM; Rieley Brewster, 9-10 girls backstroke and short free; Damian Hicks, 9-10 boys long free and butterfly; Kaitlyn Dow, 11-12 girls long free and butterfly; Christopher McDowell, 11-12 boys long free and backstroke; Tayler Smeltzer, 11-12 boys butterfly and IM; Jamie Valentine, 13-14 girls long free and butterfly; Sydney Mathias, 13-14 girls backstroke and short free; Alex Bader, 13-14 girls IM and breaststroke; Alex LeMaster, 13-14 boys long free and breaststroke; Sophie Badier, 15-over girls breaststroke and short free; Sok Vormohr, 15-over boys long free and butterfly; and Josh Lykins, 15-over boys breaststroke and short free.
Single event winners included Joshua Monroe, Joseph Dow, Tanner Hurt, Eliza Bader, Ashlyn Dow, Lillian Clemmons, Ryleigh Oswalt, Mitchell Brown, Ezekiel Corwin, Konner Sommers, Natalie Blakely, Elizabeth McDowell, Erica Hathaway, David Ostrowski, Elijah Corwin, Jason Minnich, and Rylee Clemmons.
