It’s been a perfect summer so far.
Jay County’s Summer Swim Team stayed undefeated at 4-0 Monday, rolling past the team from Halteman Village 768 ½ to 298 ½.
Jay won all but one of the 18 contested relays and 46 of 60 individual events.
Sophie and Eliza Bader set new records Monday.
Sophie Bader set both a team and pool record in the 15-over girls long free with a time of 1:02.56.
Eliza Bader set a new team record in the 9-10 girls short free with a time of 15.2 seconds.
Five Jay County swimmers were triple event winners.
Sophie Saxman won the 8-under girls long free, backstroke, and short free. Mara Bader won the 8-under girls butterfly, IM, and breaststroke.
Joshua Monroe won the 8-under boys long free, IM, and breaststroke. Eliza Bader won the 9-10 girls butterfly, backstroke, and short free. Sok Vormohr won the 15-over boys long free, butterfly, and short free.
There were 10 double event winners, including: Ashlyn Dow, 9-10 girls IM and breastroke; Konner Sommers, 9-10 boys long free and butterfly; Elizabeth McDowell, 11-12 girls long free and backstroke; Kaitlyn Dow, 11-12 girls IM and short free; Sydney Mathias, 13-14 girls long free and IM; Jamie Valentine, 13-14 girls backstroke and short free; Alex Bader, 13-14 girls backstroke and short free; Sophie Bader, 15-over girls long free and butterfly; Caitlin Mark, 15-over girls breaststroke and short free; and Josh Lykins, 15-over boys backstroke and IM.
Single event winners included Lillian Clemmons, Ezekiel Corwin, Damian Hicks, Natalie Blakely, Kaitlyn Hicks, Christopher McDowell, Luke Nichols, Tayler Smeltzer, Alex LeMaster, Rylee Clemmons, and Katie Mast.
Jay County hosts Union City at 6 p.m. today.

Cheer clinic set
A cheer clinic will be held July 15 to 18 in the main gym at Jay County High School.
Pre-registration will be Monday, July 8; Tuesday, July 9; and Thursday, July 11 from 10 a.m. until noon in the Jay Schools administrative office building, 1976 W. Tyson Road, Portland.
The cost is $10 for the four days. T-shirts and shorts may be purchased for $10 each.

Name misspelled
Junior cheerleader Bryttani Knight’s name was spelled incorrectly in Monday’s edition of The CR.


Soccer camp in Pennville
The Pennville Lions Club is sponsoring an instructional soccer camp for boys and girls ages 3 through 12 in July.
Coach Troy Shimp will direct the camp on July 15, 16, and 17 at the Pennville Park.
The 3-6 year olds will have their camp from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Three-year-olds must be 3 by July 1. The 7-12 year olds will have their camp from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The early bird registration fee, on or before Friday, June 21, is $25 for one child, $45 for two children, or $20 per child for three or more children.
After June 21, the registration fee is $30 for one child, $55 for two children, and $25 per child for three or more children.
The fee will include a soccer camp shirt. Send a registration form and check made payable to the Pennville Lions Club to P.O. Box 54, Pennville, Ind. 47369.

Big wins in Rookie League
All Circuit and Ponderosa posted big wins Monday in the boys Rookie League of Portland Junior League baseball. All Circuit defeated Williams 19-8, while Ponderosa topped Fishers 21-2.
Cody Rowles, Cameron Clark, Dusty Pearson, and Christian Runkle each had four hits for All Circuit, which is now 5-2 for the season. Koby Lewellen and Jayden Hartzell each had two hits for Williams.
Ponderosa stayed undefeated, picking up its seventh win. Allen Dues, A.J. Myers, Sam Myers, Ryne Goldsworthy, Carter Link, Tony Wood, and Griffen Byrum each had three hits for Ponderosa.

Fort tops Celina
Fort Recovery defeated Celina 2-1 in 10 innings Monday in ACME League play.
Jackson Hobbs put in a long day’s work, pitching all 10 innings for Fort Recovery. The winning run came when Jacob Muhlenkamp singled in Blake Boughman.

Crossroads tops Frontline
Crossroads defeated Frontline Construction 10-3 in Minor Girls action in Portland Junior League play Friday.
Gwen Butcher had two hits for Crossroads, while Shadie Canturbury had one hit and scored one run.[[In-content Ad]]
