Swiss Days begin Thursday

Taking Note

Swiss  Days will start Thursday and continue through Saturday in Berne, with entertainment held in the Swiss Village Auditorium.
On Friday, Gospel singer Frances Bond will perform at 9:30 a.m. and the Jay Fox Polka Band will perform at 2 p.m. Fort Wayne Kinder Und Junge Bavarian Dancers will perform at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Birthday celebration
Geneva’s Geneva, a 150th birthday celebration of author, naturalist, photographer and movie producer Geneva “Gene” Stratton-Porter, will be held in August.
The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, at Limberlost State Historic Site in Geneva. There will be a wine tasting from Indiana wineries, parlor games popular during the late Victorian era and live music performances.
Guests may dress in time period clothing. There will be a birthday cake and refreshments.

Library news
An Internet class for beginners will be held Wednesday, Aug. 7, at noon at Jay County Public Library. Learn how to use a mouse, navigate a web page, surf the web and more. To register, call the library at (260) 726-7890.  
Author Tess Gerritsen will visit the library on Oct. 3. She has written several best-selling suspense novels and has been dubbed the “medical suspense queen” by Publishers Weekly.
Her work inspired the series “Rizzoli & Isles”  that appears on TNT.

Concert series
