Swiss Village open for season (6/9/03)
Taking Note
The Swiss Heritage Village and Museum, 1200 Swiss Way, Berne, is open for the season through October. Several special events will be held in addition to the regular season.
An Old Time Farm Festival will be held on Friday, July 25 and Saturday, July 26.
On Saturday, Sept. 13, the annual Heritage Festival will be held. More than 20 historical reenactment groups participate throughout the day, including blacksmithing, fur trade, Native Americans, weaving and many other artisians.
New features and artifacts have been added to the Celebrating Our Heritage exhibit in the museum.
Hours for the village are Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission to both for adults is $5, seniors is $4 and children is $3. Admission to the museum only is $2.

BLOOD DRIVES
The American Red Cross will host two blood drives in June.
On Monday, June 16, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Celina Moose Lodge, Celina, Ohio, and Tuesday, June 17, from 1-6 p.m. at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, Dunkirk, blood drives will be held.
Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 lbs., and be in good general health. Donors must provide proof of identification. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are appreciated to ensure an ample amount of supplies.

DEAN’S LIST
Cassie Golden, daughter of Dave and Florine Golden, Portland, was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Indiana University School of Nursing.
Also, Jesse Erlenbush, son of Violet Erlenbush, Redkey, was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Ivy Tech State College, Evansville. Jesse will be joining the United States Coast Guard.
GENEALOGY DINNER
The Darke County Genealogical Researchers carry-in dinner — formerly called Listfest — will be held Saturday, June 21, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Shawnee Prairie Preserve’s Nature Center, 4267 Ohio 502, Greenville, Ohio.
Participants are invited to bring their genealogy research along and Darke County research will be available along with copiers. Dinner will take place at noon. All are asked to bring a covered dish.
Tom Keesling of Lynn will be the featured speaker. Keesling will speak about digital restoration of photos.
