The Jay County Winter Swim Team had another big night Monday, crushing Adams Central 529-211 to improve to 3-0 on the season.
Eight Jay County swimmers won three events as the team took 43 out of 48 individual victories. It also won 12 of 14 relays.
Mary Hudson, Laura Bowen and Richard Osterholt led a dominant effort in the 11-12-year-old division as they each won three events. Adam Young and Sok Vormohr added three wins apiece for the 8-and-younger boys, and Caitlin Mark and Levi Hummel each won a trio of 9-10-year-old events.
Also coming up with three wins was Perry Hull in the 13-and-older division.
Winning two events apiece were Rylee Clemmons, Wiley Young, Caitlin Ruchgy, Alyssa Extin and Aaron Hudson.
Jay County also swept the 8-and-younger girls events with Mikaela Gilbert, Cori Stone, Anne Vormohr, Cady Farlow, Rhianon Mills and Sophie Bader each earning a victory.
JC freshmen back on track
MARION — Jay County’s freshman girls basketball team stopped a three-game losing streak with a 33-5 victory over the Eastbrook Panthers Monday.
The Patriots (2-3) held Eastbrook scoreless in two of the four quarters, outscoring them 8-0 in the first and 17-0 in the third.
Ashley Waters paced the Jay County victory with nine points. Mackenzie Loy had seven points, and Kristi Morningstar scored six. Loy also grabbed 11 rebounds.
Prescott rules Hoosier Park
ANDERSON — Rodney Prescott was dominant.
The Jay County High School graduate finished the fall meet at Hoosier Park in Anderson as the top jockey by far, leading in every conceivable category.
He finished No. 1 in earnings by more than $250,000 at the meet, which began Sept. 3 and ended Friday. He earned $989,882, and Roberto Villafan was second at $717,941.
Prescott finished with 81 victories, 10 more than Villafan, took second place 64 times and third 78 times.[[In-content Ad]]
