The Jay County Summer Swim Team rolled to a 741-384 victory in its home opener Thursday over Wells Community. Anne Vormohr set another team record, and Jay County won 17 out of 20 relays in the win.
Vormohr, who broke two records in the first meet of the season at South Adams, snapped her sister Cori's mark in the 11-12-year-old girls backstroke Thursday. She finished in 33.68 seconds, which was nearly a second faster than the record of 34.67.
Vormohr also added victories in the individual medley and short freestyle as she led a group of 12 swimmers who each won three events.
Katy Smeltzer, Caitlin Mark, Eliza Bader, Alex Bader, Audrey Shreve, Sophie Bader, Eme Miller and Mary Hudson each added three wins in girls events. Boys triple winners were Zane Shreve, Aaron Hudson and Neal Fennig.
Tayler Smeltzer and Evan Mathias added two wins apiece.
Rockets fall
CELINA, Ohio - A fourth meeting with the Mariners brought another defeat.
The Portland Rockets slipped to 3-7 overall Thursday with a 14-1 loss to the Grand Lake Mariners. Six of those seven losses have come to Grand Lake and the Richmond RiverRats.
Heath Williams got the Rockets on the board in the first inning as he singled and stole second base. He advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a ground out from Mark Isenberg.
However, Portland never scored again - it failed to push home a run despite loading the bases in the eighth inning - while the Mariners racked up 14 runs. Most of the damage came against Rocket relievers after South Adams High School graduate Daniel Bollenbacher gave up just two runs in the first 4 2/3 innings.

Patriot Sportswear and CrossRoads Financial Federal Credit Union split a pair of games Wednesday in Portland Junior League Super Major softball. Sportswear won the opener 19-11, and CrossRoads took the second game 17-6.
Gierhart lead the Sportswear win with a grand slam in her team's 10-run third inning. She drove in five runs and scored twice, and Justin Wallischeck added four runs.
In the CrossRoads win, Rachel Ferguson tripled in the third inning on the way to a three-run, three-RBI game. Chloe Steigerwalt drove in three runs and scored once.
