Tanner powers Rockets over Dayton
Local roundup
DAYTON, Ohio — Zach Tanner enjoyed the familiar setting.
Tanner hit his second home run of the season Monday at Wright State University’s Nischwitz Stadium, giving the Portland Rockets the early lead as they doubled up the host Dayton Docs 8-4.
Tanner, a Wright State graduate, blasted a two-run homer to right field in the first inning as Portland took control. The Rockets (2-2) added two more runs in the second inning and scored three in the fourth en route to the win.
The Portland bullpen made the early offense stand up, as relievers Dalton Gentry, Tyler Reynolds and Dylan Brammer combined to toss five scoreless innings behind 2002 Jay County High School graduate Mitch Waters.
Geoff Bowers had a pair of hits, including a double, for the Rockets. Thomas McCowan (JCHS) and Dalton Tinsley each scored twice.

Dusty Pearson drove in six runs Monday to lead All Circuit Electric to a 21-1 victory over Fisher Meats in Portland Junior League Rookie Baseball.
Also Monday, Barnett’s Auto Parts topped Williams Auto Parts 15-5.
Pearson and Cameron Clark each hit inside-the-park homers for All Circuit. Pearson added a single, a double and three runs, and Clark had three hits, four RBIs and three runs.

Koby LeWellen paced Williams with three hits, two runs and an RBI, and Zach McAbee went 2-for-2 and scored the lone run for Fisher.
Ludy playing Power
LAKEWOOD, N.J. — Josh Ludy has seen his fair share of the West Virginia Power recently, having played for the Lakewood BlueClaws against their South Atlantic League Northern Division rivals four times in a span of nine days.
Ludy, a 2009 Jay County High School graduate, started two of those games and had a double May 26 in an 8-3 loss to West Virginia. He has three doubles in 28 at bats since joining the Lakewood club May 5.
He also had a hit May 22 in the BlueClaws’ 8-6 loss to the Delmarva Shorebirds.
Ludy is hitting .179 with Lakewood and .200 for the season, which he has split between the Class A BlueClaws and Class A Advanced Clearwater Threshers. The Philadelphia Phillies drafted him in the eighth round out of Baylor University last year.[[In-content Ad]]
