FISHERS — Megan Taylor turned in her best finish in her final trip to the regional.
The Jay County High School senior scored 201.6 points and placed 16th Tuesday at the regional diving competition hosted by Fishers. She was 17th at the regional during her sophomore and junior seasons.
Elwood’s Mary Beth Dunnichay ran away with the regional championship, scoring 560.65 points. Emily Holman of the host Tigers was second with 451.9 at the meet, from which the top eight divers advanced to the state finals.
Taylor, who came into the meet seeded 19th, scored the 201.6 points in her five preliminary dives, but it was not enough for her to reach the top 12 and advance to the semifinals. She scored 195.5 points last season.
She finished behind Norwell’s Leah Huggins (14th – 216.5), who won the Jay County sectional title, and ahead of sectional runner-up Kaityln Kennedy (20th – 166.8) of Delta.

Schroer leads FR 7th
FORT RECOVERY — Kyle Schroer turned in a season-high scoring total Tuesday to lead the Fort Recovery Middle Schools seventh grade boys basketball team to a 49-46 victory over the Celina Bulldogs. The eighth graders lost, 49-16.
Schroer racked up 22 points as the seventh grade Indians improved to 11-2. Jackson Hobbs finished with nine points.
Derek Backs finished with six points for the eighth grade team (2-11), and Mitch Stammen added four.

Vormohr breaks two

OSSIAN — Anne Vormohr set a pair of records Tuesday as the Jay County middle school girls swim team won the eight-team Norwell Invitational.
Vormohr’s records came as she picked up two of the team’s three wins in individual events, breaking her own team record by more than two seconds in the 100-yard backstroke. She finished in 1 minute, 4.1 seconds.
She also won the 100 freestyle with a time of 56.44. She broke the previous record of 57.17, set by her sister, Cori, in 2005.
Sophie Bader picked up the other individual win, and also teamed with Vormohr, Katy Smeltzer, Sydney Mathias, Ashley Mark, Emma Laux and Larissa Boles as Jay County won all three relays.

Tribe girls fall
MARIA STEIN, Ohio — The Fort Recovery seventh grade girls basketball team lost 34-18 Tuesday to the host Marion Local Flyers, and the eighth graders fell 48-20.
Caitlyn Huelskamp scored five points for the seventh grade Indians (5-9). Mikayla Post and Kelsey Evers each added four points.
Cassidy Rammel scored six points for the eighth grade team, which is now 7-7. Haley Knapke finished with five points.

EJ stays perfect
East Jay’s sixth grade girls basketball team stayed undefeated Tuesday with a 21-14 victory over Muncie Northside.
Stormi Canterbury paced the Chiefs with seven points as they ran their record to 9-0. Taylor Homan followed with five points.[[In-content Ad]]
